This Privacy Policy describes how Fieldhouse Journal Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of fieldhousejournal.org (the "Site"). We are committed to handling information in a straightforward manner consistent with applicable Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information We Collect
The Site does not require registration or account creation. We may collect the following limited categories of information:
- Contact form submissions: If you submit the contact form, we collect your name, phone number, and email address for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. This information is not shared with third parties.
- Server log data: Standard web server logs may record IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is retained for up to 30 days and used only for basic technical diagnostics.
- Cookies: The Site uses a single functional cookie to record whether you have acknowledged the cookie notice. No advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies are set.
2. How We Use Information
Information collected through the contact form is used solely to respond to the submitted inquiry. We do not use contact information for marketing purposes, and we do not add contacts to any mailing list without explicit consent.
Server log data is used exclusively for diagnosing technical issues with the Site. It is not shared with third parties or used for any form of user profiling.
3. Cookies
The Site sets one functional cookie ("cookie_consent") to store your response to the cookie notice banner on the homepage. This cookie contains no personal information and expires when you clear your browser storage. You can remove it at any time through your browser settings.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
4. Third-Party Links and Images
The Site contains links to external websites, including Parks Canada, provincial park reservation systems, and Wikimedia Commons. We do not control the privacy practices of those sites. Images hosted by Wikimedia Commons are loaded directly from Wikimedia servers; Wikimedia's own privacy policy governs any data collected in that process.
5. Data Retention and Security
Contact form submissions are retained for a maximum of 12 months and then deleted. Server logs are deleted after 30 days. We use standard technical measures to protect data held on our servers, but no method of internet transmission is completely secure.
6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
